Happy Birthday, Mr. President!

Today, February 23, is President Yushchenko’s birthday and we’d like to join the chorus of voices in Ukraine and around the world who are wishing Viktor Andriyovych a Happy Birthday.

In today’s edition of Vysokyi Zamok, a fine Lviv newspaper, reading birthday wishes to the President from its readers we were not surprised that they spoke of courage and, well, guts.

One reader said: “If I had the opportunity to be with him today, I would raise a toast for his good health, freedom and fate. I would wish him that he would make political decisions with greater courage.”

Another person said: “I would wish Viktor Andriyovych the ability to work in such a manner that each one of us, at the end of the year, would feel that it was better than the previous one.”

His classmate added: “I wish him courage, perseverance and a good team.”

This reader wished the President “that our country had more friends and that his personal friends would never deceive him and that Ukrainians would be proud that their president is Viktor Yushchenko.”

Finally, here’s our birthday wish to President Yushchenko:

“Almighty God, who gives strength to the weak and upholds those who might fall, give Viktor Andriyovych courage to do what is right, for those that trust in you have no need to fear.

“Make him brave to face any danger which may now threaten him. Give him the help that you have promised to those who ask it, that him may overcome his fears and go bravely forward.

“Fill him with courage that nothing which is his duty to do may be too hard for him. Let him put my trust in your power and goodness.

“Thank you my Lord. Amen.

IHOR
